About
RunReveal is a modern security data platform designed to simplify the processes of detecting, monitoring, and making sense of security signals. It aims to revolutionize the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Extended Detection and Response (XDR) space by offering an effective, user-friendly, and cost-efficient solution.
How they use Cloudflare
RunReveal leverages several Cloudflare products to streamline their operations and enhance their development workflow. RunReveal uses Cloudflare Workers to make changes and add integrations without touching the backend code. For example, they use Workers with Cloudflare Zaraz for third-party tracking, and have even thrown in a fun Easter egg on their site, reveal.run, that flips everything backwards—just for fun.
The entire front end of RunReveal runs on Cloudflare Pages, which replaced their previous setup with Vercel, manages their DNS records through Cloudflare, and uses Cloudflare's audit logs to help customers spot and address security risks, enhancing overall security.
RunReveal also integrates with Cloudflare, allowing you to collect any source that supports S3 protocol from R2, Cloudflare’s blob storage backend. To enable this, RunReveal uses Cloudflare Queues to receive file event notifications for new logs to read.
While not yet in production, RunReveal is exploring Cloudflare Tunnels for different access needs. Some customers bring their own ClickHouse databases, which are often behind firewalls. Instead of opening ports, RunReveal is using Tunnels for direct access during development. This allows each developer to create a domain that mimics production, with TLS encryption, making deployment smoother.
Why Cloudflare?
“As former Cloudflare employees turned co-founders, we're deeply familiar with the stack and keep a close eye on every release. The Developer Platform has been a standout for us—it's packed with out-of-the-box tools that make the experience seamless. Getting things deployed on Pages, for instance, is incredibly straightforward. One of the highlights is how quickly you can get started; we had our first Pages app up and running within an hour. If you know your way around Cloudflare, deploying a Next.js site is practically instant, and the docs are a great help. Plus, the preview feature has been a game-changer for us."
