How they use R2

Character.AI relies on a multi-cloud architecture for training and processing requests due to the price and availability of GPUs in the cloud. The multi-cloud architecture required moving data between clouds leading to high bills. Now R2 is the glue between these clouds. Training and production data is stored in R2 and accessible by any cloud without incurring egress fees. R2 allows us to get the best prices and performance across multiple cloud providers.

Why Cloudflare?

No need to select a region, that is done automatically. Less expensive to export existing data into R2 from multiple clouds because of the bandwidth alliance. Works conveniently with Workers to do image resizing. No egress fees
